The Evolution
Maimouna Mbaye
The Evolution, 2024
Charcoal and color pastel on canvas panel
20 x 15 inches
Framed
This piece was part of my art series called Hitting Bone. In this series, I include my feelings and challenges in life by using buildings as a representation. This piece depicts the mending of previously felt pain, the elimination of struggles, and the experience of a new, refreshing breath of air as if there wasn’t much pain to begin with. During the process of creating this piece I’ve learned that art is therapy, it listens to all of your struggles and challenges, and retells your story in the most beautiful way.
