Ammy Sanchez
The Soft Touch of Comfort, 2024
Cotton and wool yarn and wool roving
12 x 15 inches

As a fashion design student, fabric and textiles have played a significant role in my education, both in and out of the classroom. My passion for knitting blossomed during a class I took in my sophomore year, which opened the door to the world of creative weaving. When I embarked on this project, I had one guiding concept in mind: organic comfort. Armed with yarn, wool, and a loom—yet with no concrete plan—I set out to bring this vision to life. To me, organic comfort evokes the sensation of a fluffy, soft texture that invites anyone to sink into it. Stripped of the distraction of color, the process of creating this piece became a meditative experience, allowing me to concentrate solely on the textures I was forming.
